Quinto Real means King’s Fifth and was a 20% tax established by the Spanish
King in 1504 on gold, silver and jewel mines in the American colonies.
Although the “quinto” was established for only 10
years, it lasted until 1723 when it was reduced to the
“diezmo” (tenth).
Quinto Real, the perfect name for a store full of Mexico’s
many treasures and located right in the heart of the colonial city of
Queretaro.
